Langkawi - not a desert island

My next stop is Langkawi, an island located in the Andaman Sea (Northern Malaysia).

Someone told me that usually people unexpectedly extend their stay in Langkawi... Humm, interesting :) There is something about this place that stops you from leaving it. And actually this is true: all the folks I met there had not expected to stay on the island that long. Even me. I was trying to leave twice, more precisely. I couldn't. So at the end I stayed there around 10 days. You are going to ask me "what the heck were you doing there for 10 days?"... Well, surprisingly there is a lot to do.
Apart from "beaching", you can go for a Mangrove trip, island hopping, cable car, Underwater world... you can rent a motorbike/bicycle/boat, you can go shopping in one of the numerous duty free shops (i.e. a beer for less than 1$), you can do the water paragliding (looks awesome but probably boring up there ;)), snorkeling or scuba-diving; or you can just go for a nice relaxing Malay massage (Thai massages also available!); or... why not trying some local food on the night market etc etc... The other nice thing to do is to eat! There are various restaurants located on the main street along Pantai Cenang beach. I was usually going to eat the Indian food as I'm a huge fan :)

The island is quite vast but unfortunately I am familiar only with the Pantai Cenang part, not far from the airport (10-15 min by car). Anyway, I felt so good there that I don't regret moving to another part.

I was lucky to find a really nice dorm just 2 min walk from the beach. Cheap, clean, awesome people working in the area. Nothing to complain about :)
Our daily routine consisted of relaxing on the beach, eating delicious food and going for drinks to Babylon, an awesome beach-bar (right in front of the dorm I was staying at). Yes, that was a good holiday...

There you go some pictures:

I almost forgot about the most important part... the Babylon by night :)
And the look of guys when you use ice cubes to cool down your sunburnt body... ahahaha priceless :D
